Food is key to survival. Yet, many struggle to provide and bring food to the table. You have the power to share bread and save lives in Nicaragua.

Thanks to a generous donor, every gift made before November 30 (#GivingTuesday) will be matched. Give now to double your impact.

By donating today, you can support more people like Brayan Amaya and Concepción Miranda, who benefit from ANF’s programs.

Despite facing the great challenges of rural life in Nicaragua, Brayan Amaya is giving back by donating a portion of his red bean production to local feeding centers.

The continued struggle to bring food to the table has a detrimental impact on Nicaraguan families’ health and well-being – often affecting children the hardest. With your help, we can provide much-needed resources and tools to alleviate hunger.

At 75 years of age, Concepción Miranda takes care of her two great-grandchildren, or “hijitos” (little children) as she calls them. A widow with no income, she struggles to survive and provide for little María and Luis.

Concepción is one of several elders in the rural community of El Porcal, Somoto, who travels one mile by foot to reach the only feeding center in the area. The center is provided with food donations through ANF and local partners. Here, she and her great-grandchildren receive a daily meal—often their only full meal of the day.

Concepcion’s community is part of the Dry Corridor of Nicaragua, where 40% of soils are severely eroded. Thanks to the unconditional support of friends like you, Concepcion has recently benefited from training in biointensive farming—a food gardening method aiming to increase yields in conditions with little access to water.

“Many times, I haven’t been able to bring food to the table… but I have a lot of faith in my garden. I will continue to work hard for my hijitos.”

Join us to share bread with vulnerable families like Concepcion’s
